What is mindfulness?

This site exists to promote mindfulness in Thanet. 

What is "mindfulness?" you might ask. 

What a perfect question. All questions are perfect. Ask what you like. Always. 

Mindfulness is simply about being present in the moment and paying attention. 

When you practice mindfulness you may be surprised by the positive results it brings about in your life and the lives of those around you. 

Yes really. 

There are many different ways of practicing mindfulness. Many techniques, methods, disciplines - whole schools of thought and a wide range of practices. The truth is you can spend a lifetime studying mindfulness and discovering ever greater benefits and depth of experience and there is an increasing body of scientific evidence of the wide ranging positive effects of mindfulness practice that you can also explore. Equally, you can simply start practicing it right now, this moment. Pay attention and be still. Nothing matters now except your breath. Smile. We like to practice mindfulness and we like to talk about it and encourage others in their own mindful practice.   

As Mindfulness in Thanet grows we will share more information and mindful resources/stimulus, including guided meditation audio tracks, poetry, music and art, from time to time, on this site and elsewhere.   

For now. Know that is is very simple. Take a step and feel  your foot beneath you, take another, breath. Feel your breath. This is living mindfully.  Opportunities to learn more and deepen your practice are bountiful once you start to look for them.
